Baby Cashmere

Part one

Baby Cashmere originates from the grasslands of the western region in Inner Mongolia, renowned for its scarcity and high demand. The uniqueness lies in the fact that each young goat yields only 30 grams of this coveted fiber. The entire region produces no more than 50 tons annually, enhancing the exclusivity of this exceptional fiber. The scarcity, coupled with its unparalleled quality, has redefined the very essence of ultimate luxury in yarns.

Part two

This extraordinary fiber is humanely collected with care from the shoulder and flanks of kid cashmere goats aged under 12 months. With an average micron of 14.5 µm and a fiber length of 34-36mm, it emerges as a paragon of softness and warmth — elevating it beyond comparison with any other cashmere fiber.

Part three

When the wind calms down and the weather becomes milder, the perfect moment comes. In this setting, the story of Baby Cashmere starts, woven with care and softness.

At just 14.5 microns in diameter, Baby Cashmere goes beyond the already fine Cashmere with its lightness and unmatched softness. It's a revelation, an invitation to
experience the extraordinary.

In just 30 grams, you find something incredibly rare – a small part of the 80 grams of fine fiber obtained from a Baby Cashmere goat. It's not just a fiber; it's proof of
nature's skill and the strength of these amazing creatures. As the story unfolds, the legacy of Baby Cashmere comes to light, starting as a gentle breeze and turning into a timeless tale of elegance, an invitation to experience the extraordinary.

The good cashmere standard

This certification stands for sustainably sourced cashmere from farms where goats are treated responsibly, the environment is protected, and the social, ecological, and economic living conditions of cashmere farmers and their families are respected.

The Good Cashmere Standard is an initiative of the Aid by Trade Foundation with the aim of creating, promoting and implementing a benchmark standard for sustainable cashmere.

The standard incorporates the Five Freedoms as defined by the Farm Animal Welfare Council. The Good Cashmere Standard follows three main principles: promote animal welfare in cashmere production, support cashmere farmers to secure a sustainable source of income and protect the environment.

The Sustainable Fibre Alliance (SFA)

The Sustainable Fibre Alliance is a non-profit International organisation working with the extended cashmere supply chain, from herders to retailers. Their goal is to promote a global sustainability standard for cashmere production order to preserve and restore grasslands, ensure animal welfare and secure livelihoods.

Responsible Wool Standard (RWS)

RWS certification ensures that the wool comes from farms with a progressive approach to managing their land and treat their sheep responsibly. The goals of the RWS are to provide a tool to recognise the best practices of farmers to ensure wool comes from farms that uphold the highest environmental, ethical and socially responsible standards.
